Exploring Lewis & Harris:
The County Hotel will be delighted to offer our guests the opportunity to book island tours whereby they will be able to enjoy a full-day’s guided excursion in our hotel mini-bus visiting the island’s most popular attractions. These tours will include a visit to the Callanish Stones, the ancient, and best preserved “Broch” in all of Europe, and the Isle of Harris Tweed Centre and the Harris Distillery both of which are located in the lovely Harris town of Tarbert. Guests will also see some of the beautiful coastline of our islands, including the world famous beach at Luskentyre. Those excursions will include a full County Hotel packed lunch for everyone on board.
For guests who have limited time and are unable to take advantage of our island excursion, there are attractive alternatives here on our doorstep: The Castle Grounds, which includes Stornoway Castle, are not only beautiful, they are only a short walk from the County Hotel. A little further, but no more than five minutes by car, our guests can visit the newly refurbished “Iolaire Memorial site” which is on the northern headland of Stornoway Loch and is hugely popular with guests whose ancestors hailed from the Hebrides as well as those who have an interest in the history which shaped these islands. Needless to say, the town centre and its commercial outlets, is on our doorstep.
Whatever your reason for visiting Stornoway, your welcome at the County Hotel will be the same: “Hebrideanly” warm.
